More than that, however, she couldn't help but notice how graceful the Bard looked. She had never seen the Bard look so.serene. All that could be heard was a long, gentle note. Their eyes were loosely shut and they held both of their hands on their chest. Just as she was about to snap and ask the Bard what was wrong, they stopped.Ī bright light filled the empty space, and the Bard rose gently from the ground. She was too focused watching the Bard, looking as though they were going to collapse any minute. Rings? Dials? Miriam couldn't bother to think harder about it. She watched as they hobbled around, singing at.whatever the Bard was singing at. It was low and slightly off-tune, which annoyed Miriam more. Before she could apologize, however, the Bard started to sing. She didn't know whether it was the Bard's fault or not but, regardless, they were still clearly injured. Miriam felt a pang of guilt when they flinched. The Bard was looking at her with that stupid face, hunched over with one eye tightly shut. All around here. There's some kind of spirit." Miriam trailed off. They were staggering and they held a hand tightly to their left side. "Besides," they continued, "Even if we wanted to learn the Earthsong. We can't now than an Overseer is dead." I'm grumpy and useless. You make everything better by being happy at it." "You're good because you're always all happy and singy." She sighed. "I mean that's not what's good about you!" She turned back around. "That doesn't make me feel better at all!" "Nobody ever thought you were the Hero anyway." "That's dumb. You're being really dumb." Miriam turned around. And I thought I could save the world, but I can't. "No! I'm not the hero Miriam." they said, still lying on the floor. "It looked like something went wrong." She continued, "So I came, um.Are you okay?" Their eyes looked far away and their face was scrunched in pain. "Hey.Wake up!"įinally, the Bard opened their eyes. Just as she was checking their head, they started shifting. Any unconsciousness is a cause for concern but anything more than a few seconds could mean a serious head injury. On one hand, she was grateful that the Bard had no serious wounds, but there was nothing else visibly wrong with them and Miriam didn't know what was wrong. After she confirmed they were, in fact, alive, she did a more thorough scan for any blood or wounds. It was slow and faint but it was definitely there. When she saw none, she checked their pulse. Once Miriam reached the Bard, she knelt down and did a once-over to check for any signs of blood. Miriam walked faster than she cared to admit. "Lute?" The Bard was a couple of yards away, lying still on the ground. The only thing she saw when she turned around was a large crown, clearly the Overseer's. She didn't expect much now that the Overseer was dead, but she didn't expect to see nothing. When she finally made it into the Spirit World, what she saw was. If she really was capable of killing an Overseer, she could be a threat. After hearing about how the Hero killed the Overseer, Miriam was desperate to get inside of the Spirit World and see it for herself. Something about the Hero's demeanor made her uneasy, and she couldn't wait for their short conversation to be over. They exchanged a couple of terse words, then the Hero was on her way. She had an attitude that could rival Miriam's, and an arrogance that made Miriam dislike her. While Miriam was waiting for the Bard to return from the spirit world, the Hero suddenly appeared, startling her. Miriam thought the Hero was.an interesting character.
